Richard B. Andres is Full Professor of National Security Strategy at the US National War College where he teaches courses on strategy development with particular emphasis on cyber conflict; he holds faculty positions related to cyber strategy at Georgetown University’s Security Studies Program; Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies; and the American Enterprise Institute. Dr. Andres is widely published in his academic field, has delivered more than one hundred keynote academic speeches and presentations on five continents and is regularly interviewed by national and international television, radio, and print news organizations. Beyond academics, Andres has held a number of senior advisory positions related to strategy development and cyber conflict including: The NSA Scholar in Residence (reporting to the Director of the National Security Agency); Air Force Special Advisor to the Secretary (reporting to the Secretary of the Air Force); and has led strategy development teams for two White Houses, numerous secretaries and chiefs of staff from across the services, and other leaders in and out of government. Andres’ current work focuses on the geopolitical implications of cyber conflict. His PhD is in political science/philosophy from the University of California, Davis.
