Colonel Gilbert "JR" Deimel joined the National War College faculty in 2019 from the Joint Staff where he served in J5 Directorate for Strategy, Plans, and Policy. He received his commission as an Armor Officer from the United States Military Academy in 1995. Colonel Deimel has served in command and staff assignments across the operation and institutional Army and deployed in support of operations in Iraq (2007 and 2009) and Afghanistan (2011). He is a 2016 graduate of the National War College and holds a Master’s degree from Georgetown University in Security Studies.
