Mr. Norbert S. Doyle – DOE

Department of Energy Faculty Chair

Mr. Norbert S. Doyle is the Department of Energy Faculty Chair, arriving at the National War College in July of 2021. Previously, he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Acquisition and Project Management, for the Office of Environmental Management, Department of Energy, located in Washington, D.C. He also served as the Head of the Contracting Activity. The Office of Environmental Management awards approximately $7 billion of contracts annually and has projects valued at almost $20 billion in support of the world’s largest clean-up program. He joined the Department of Energy in 2015. In his civilian career, he has also served in the Securities & Exchange Commission, was a staffer on the U.S. Congressional Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan and was the Chief Procurement & Logistics Officer for the Veterans Health Administration. Norb was also a career military officer, retiring from the U.S. Army as a Colonel in 2008 after 26 years, serving in infantry and acquisition assignments throughout his career. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, University of Florida, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering, a Master of Business Administration, and a Master of National Resources Strategy.
