ANNOUNCEMENT – Access to FT McNair

STUDENTS WITHOUT A DOD CAC CARD MUST REGISTER WITH FORT MCNAIR PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.

  • Those students without a DoD CAC/ ID card must register online for a one-day pass at the link below.
  • Do NOT register earlier than 14 days prior to arrival in order to gain access to the installation, use in lane vetting, or receive a pass from the Fort Myer VCC. 
    • You will receive a text message. 
  • Please bring a valid government ID with you
    • Preferably a Real ID but other valid IDs allowed are listed on the site.

  • Ceremonial Gate
    • Location: 4th Street SW
    • Hours
      • 0600-0900: Inbound Traffic Only
      • 1500-1800: Outbound Traffic Only
        • Monday-Friday (Closed on Federal Holidays)
  • 2nd Street Gate / Visitors Gate
    • Location: 2nd Street SW
    • Hours: 24/7
  • Pedestrian Gate 
    • ​Location: Ceremonial Gate
      • 0.5 mile from Waterfront Metro Station
    • Hours: 24/7

Visitors to Fort McNair

  • Visitors Control Center (VCC)
    • Location: 2nd Street Gate / Visitors Gate
    • Open: Monday – Friday (0800-1800)

  • Trusted Traveler Program
    • Individuals aged 18 and older holding a Department of Defense identification card may vouch for up to eight (8) occupants inside their vehicle
    • Occupants must have a valid state issued identification for access to the base

    • Access to Fort McNair for individuals without a Department of Defense identification card and no Department of Defense identification in their vehicle
