CAPT Timothy M. Brosnan – USN

Assistant Professor

CAPT Timothy M. Brosnan joined the National War College (NWC) faculty in 2021.  He graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering and was designated a Naval Aviator in 1999. Following initial flight training, CAPT Brosnan was assigned to Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron TWO (VQ-2) where he qualified as Mission Commander in the EP-3E Aries II.  Other sea tours include Special Projects Patrol Squadron TWO where he served at forward deployed locations throughout the Southwest Asia Theater of Operations.  In 2013, CAPT Brosnan assumed command of the “World Watchers” of Fleet Air Reconnaissance ONE (VQ-1) providing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) support for Fleet and Combatant Commanders across the globe.

CAPT Brosnan’s shore and staff tours include flight instructor duty at VT-4, Chief of the Joint Doctrine Branch for the Joint Staff J-7, EP-3E/Special Projects Aircraft Requirements Officer for Chief of Naval Operations N98, Chairman of the NATO Joint Capability Group on ISR, and Chief of Staff of the Ground Enterprise Directorate for the National Reconnaissance Office.  He has Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and in National Security Strategy from NWC.  CAPT Brosnan has been awarded the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (three awards, Strike/Flight), and various campaign and unit awards.
