Col Pete Larsen – USAF

Military Faculty, U.S. Air Force

Colonel Pete Larsen, USAF, joined the NWC as military faculty in March 2022. He recently served as the Director for South Asia Regional Affairs on the National Security Council.  Colonel Larsen’s previous staff assignments include Chief of the South/Central Asia Division within the Joint Staff’s Deputy Directorate for Middle Eastern Affairs of the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate; pol-mil advisor to the Assistant Secretary of the Near Eastern Affairs Bureau at the Department of State; and air attaché to Israel.  He commanded the 818th Air Mobility Advisor Squadron at McGuire AFB, NJ, and he has over 1,700 flight hours in the C-130E/H, with deployments to Southwest Asia and the Balkans.  Colonel Larsen received his commission through the University of North Carolina (Charlotte) Air Force ROTC in 1996. He is a 2010 graduate of Naval Postgraduate School, a 2018 graduate of National War College and is currently a doctoral student at the Schar School for Policy and Government.
