Ms. Carlie Franzman

Intern

Ms. Carlie Franzman joined the NWC in the fall of 2022 as a research intern. She is a first-year graduate student at George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government in Arlington. Currently studying International Security, Carlie’s research interests range from the roots of domestic extremism to ethnopolitical intra-state conflict. She is specifically interested in the ideological motivations behind extremist groups and how these factors shape tactical success. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Carlie holds a BA in Political Science from Georgia College and State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received a departmental award for outstanding major. While at Georgia College, Carlie chaired a political organization and had the opportunity to present original research at Georgia College’s annual undergraduate research conference.
