Ms. Caitlin Shipley


Ms. Caitlin Shipley joined the National War College (NWC) in the summer of 2023 as a research intern. She is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the College of Charleston. She is currently studying International Studies with a global concentration and Arab and Islamic World Studies. Prior to joining the NWC, she studied abroad at the American University in Cairo and worked at Near East South Asia Center (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies.

Ms. Shipley has done research on extremist groups, and the use of Turkish Proxy Forces in Northern Syria and created a professional military education analytic database for the NESA region.

Areas of Interest: counterterrorism and extremism in the Middle East and North Africa region.
