Mr. Peter Malnak – USAID

Peter Malnak, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, has been working in international development since joining USAID in 1992. Before arriving at the National War College in 2023, he served as USAID’s Acting Chief Human Capital Officer, overseeing the personnel management needs of USAID’s 12,000-strong workforce spanning 80 countries. Prior to human resources, Peter led USAID's Bureau for Africa as well as served as Mission Director in Thailand, Nepal, and Rwanda. He has also worked in economic growth, education, health, and strategy roles in USAID Missions in Egypt, the West Bank and Gaza, Jordan, and Sudan. Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University and a Masters in Business Administration from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He is a National War College Distinguished Graduate from the class of 2011. He speaks Spanish and Hebrew. He hails from Chicago, Illinois.
