Colonel Michael Shreves, USAF, is the National Defense University Special Operations Forces (SOF) Chair and joined the National War College military faculty in 2023. He is an Air Force command pilot with almost 4,000 flight hours, including 2,000 combat hours and several operational deployments. Colonel Shreves was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Michigan. He has commanded at the squadron and group levels and has served on staffs at Joint Special Operations Command and US Special Operations Command and has interagency experience at USAID and US Embassy Kabul. Colonel Shreves has master’s degrees from Air University and Army War College.
