Col Jose Gutierrez – USAF

Instructor

Colonel Gutiérrez del Arroyo is a faculty member at the National War College, Ft McNair, Washington D.C. Prior to his current assignment he was the Commander of the, 412th Electronic Warfare Test Group, at Edwards AFB, CA, responsible for executing survivability and electronic warfare testing across a multitude of bases, capabilities, and platforms supporting Air Force system development for the near-peer fight. He was commissioned in 1999 through Officer Training School in Maxwell AFB, AL.

Col Gutiérrez has also served as Chief of the Air Dominance Division, Global Power Directorate, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition, Technology & Logistics), where he oversaw the execution of the $64B USAF fighter aircraft program portfolio. In addition, he served as program manager for the OSD Strategic Capabilities Office where he led various hypersonic, and surveillance classified programs and directed the air vehicle avionics branch at the F-35 Joint Program Office where he drove the integration of the Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance system in the F-35 fighter aircraft. Throughout his career, he served in myriad flight test assignments leading the test and evaluation of various radar, C2, and air-to-air weapon systems, and served as instructor and Director of Curriculum at the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School.

Col Gutierrez has logged more than 900 flight test engineer hours and over 700 pilot-in-command and instructor pilot hours in over 30 different aircraft.
