Mr. Roy Smith joined the National War College in the fall of 2025 as a research intern. He is a junior at George Washington University studying International Affairs and Security Policy. Roy’s areas of interest include counterterrorism, cybersecurity, the great power competition, and the Middle East. He recently authored a policy memorandum recommending a shift in U.S. engagement with the Houthis as well as a research paper on civil society in the Middle East.
Roy’s professional experience includes an internship at the House of Representatives, research at an NGO, and a fellowship with a political campaign.
Beyond the classroom and the office, Roy enjoys live music, pickup basketball, and world geography.
