Colonel Scott Johnson joined the National War College faculty in May 2026. He most recently served as the Deputy Commander of the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, where he supported the readiness and effective utilization of 5,400 Air Force, joint, and coalition forces, as well as 55 mission partners, at the largest composite wing in the Middle East theater of operations. Colonel Johnson holds a Master of Science in National Security and Resource Management from the Eisenhower School, National Defense University, and a Master of Arts in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. He earned his commission in 2003 upon graduating from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Colonel Johnson commanded the 57th Weapons Squadron, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, and completed staff assignments at United States Transportation Command, Air Mobility Command, and the Joint Staff, where he most recently served as Chief of Staff, Joint Force Development Directorate (J7). He is a command pilot with more than 3,300 flying hours in the T-37, T-1, and C-17, and is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Weapons Instructor Course.
