COL Ben Ferguson serves as Military Faculty at the National War College in the Department of Strategy and Policy. He is from an Army Family with both parents and brothers having served as Army officers. He graduated with a degree in History from Kings College and was commissioned as an armor officer. He most recently served as Commander of Task Force Sinai and Chief of Staff of the Multinational Force and Observers in Sinai, Egypt.
He is a 2024 graduate of the National War College and holds master’s Degrees from Georgetown University and the National Defense University.
As an Armor Officer, he commanded at company, battalion, and brigade levels. He has served multiple combat and overseas tours in Iraq, in Afghanistan as a member of a military transition team, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, as well as in the US in support of Civil Authorities.
COL Ferguson served numerous field grade broadening assignments including as an observer/controller/trainer on Cobra Team at the National Training Center, as an Inspector General to the U.S. Military Training Mission to Saudi Arabia, and as Professor of Military Science for Boston University.
In the Washington D.C. area, he has additional experience in the Joint Operations Directorate of the Joint Staff J-3, as an Army Legislative Liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives, and as a Division Chief in the Army Futures Command working on future Army Concepts.
His military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, four Bronze Star Medals (with a Valor device), three Purple Hearts, nine Meritorious Service Medals, The Joint Service Commendation Medal, and five Army Commendation Medals (with a Valor Device). He has also earned the Combat Action Badge, Basic Parachutist Badge, and the identification badges for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Army Staff, Inspector General, and Basic Instructor.
He is married to Misty, and they have 3 sons. They all enjoy travel and sports – especially ice hockey.
