Colonel Philip Pastino joined the National War College faculty in 2016 immediately following command of Marine Aircraft Group 49. He is a 1991 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where he earned a BA in International Politics and a commission through the NROTC Program. An aviator with over 3,000 hours in the UH-1N/Y, he held every possible qualification and designation. Throughout a diverse career, he served in a variety of command and staff positions around the world to include the Republic of Korea and combat deployments to Iraq.

Col Pastino is a distinguished graduate of the Air War College with a Master of Strategic Studies.  His personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with two Gold Stars, Air Medal, Air Medal w/numeral 9, and the Republic of Korea Order of National Security Merit (Sam-Il Medal).  He is married to the former Kristen Pinckard and has three children, Kaitlyn, Meghan, and Connor.
